Control Quality
Seed quality is the lifeline for the seed company so we must take care of it anytime. These tests are carried out by RuiAn seed in its own greenhouses and laboratory. The tests focus in particular on establishing germination rate/physical purity /varietal purity and the absence of any disease.
Germination
The quality of seed is determined largely by the way in which it germinates. To provide seeds with good germinate: all at the same time and all at the same rate.
Whether this is possible depends on germination energy, germination speed and germination vigour of the seed. Some of varieties need to break dormancy before we test the germination of seed. however, and all efforts ¨C from growing to final testing ¨C will have been for nothing.
Varietal trueness and varietal purity
Sometimes we should test varietal purity of hybrid variety or open pollination variety. The seeds will be sown in our greenhouse or laboratory. To look at the plant type, plant colour, stem, leaves, fruit etc. This is tested for varietal trueness and varietal purity by means of a ¡®grow-out¡¯ .
Seed pathology
Our production regions are unfavorable diseases and pathology which condition with phytosanitary of high quality seeds.
During seed production, a crop can contract a disease. Some diseases can survive in or on seed. These infected seeds make them a source of infection which can cause a lot of damage. That is why Ruian seed always checks plants in the field. The disease plants must be removed on time to avoid the seeds on the possible presence of fungi, bacteria, viruses and nematodes. To this end, Ruian seed has at its disposal numerous testing methods.
Drying and cleaning
Depending on the degree of moisture found in the seed, it is dried in a drying cell or cabinet. Cleaning the seed can be done manually or mechanically, using wind or sieves.
Graduating
Graduating is the grading of seed on various characteristics. Graded seed is easier to use in drilling equipment and all the seed has the same qualities and characteristics while growing.
