Onion
Onion is a "young crop" for us. We are fine tuning the production process stiil. There are two types of onion that we are able to produce: the local Chinese types and the short and medium short daylength "Western types". Both types are produced as seed-to-seed biannual crop. The local Chines types are sown in March. They make a bulb late July of year one. In September of year one the bulbs are uprooted and stored in the farmers' house to overwinter. Late March of year two the bulbs are transplanted to the field again. The seed harvest is completed in Septmebre-October of year two. The Western types are sown early April. In June of year one they already start forming a bulb. In July of that same year the plant dies off, the bulbs then are uprooted late July and stored in the farmers' house to overwinter. When winter has passed the bulbs are planted in the open field once again during Spring of the following year. The harvest is completed in September-October of year two.
